You can argue the politics and procedures of drone strikes until the cows come home, but you cannot dispute the conclusion from the program that the deaths of innocent people by association or mistaken targeting is acceptable.
How do we know it’s acceptable? The strikes are continuing and in some cases are accelerating.
A couple of days ago Hilary Clinton gave a pro-drone speech where she said we are at war with these people and we use these drones to win this war.
Now switch to a video of a militant Muslim saying we are war with the evil United States and killing innocent Americans is acceptable because it is a tactic they find acceptable in their attempts to win this war.
The two parties, the United States government and Al Qaeda, both consider the killing of innocent civilians to be acceptable.
We, the American society, completely flipped out after 9/11 and started a war with a country that had nothing to do with Al Qaeda and part of the reason we did that was because a small group of people killed a large number of innocent Americans by flying planes into skyscrapers.
I don’t see how you can say the same thing is not happening in the villages of Yemen, Pakistan and Afghanistan. People are sad and angry at the death of innocents and some members of those communities are going to turn to violence.
Both parties, the U.S. government and the terrorists are morally reprehensible in finding the deaths of innocent people to be acceptable.
Our government is stimulating and creating more terrorists by killing innocent civilians.
We are terrorizing people in this location and should not expect them to not do the same to us whenever they get the chance.
