I try to stay close to reality, especially in the music business where reality is difficult to understand.
In this ‘evolution’ (code word for self-immolating collapse) of the music business I have not heard anyone mention the idea that listeners are moving towards streaming music because that’s what they can afford. You can stream a lot of music at a reasonable price.
This does not mean that they love streaming music, or that millions of people are going to start streaming music because it is an awesome experience (I stream music all day and it’s an okay experience, even with Spotify).
I just wanted to put that out there.
Folks is broke, we’re in a depression. If you can’t figure that in to your industry business model, maybe you should go work at 7-11.
