When did this shit become legal?

From Washington Post:

Hundreds of local police departments in the United States use software that tracks the locations of activists at protests or social media hashtags used by suspects, according to new research.

Not cool up to now, and now even less cool with somebody being framed as a potential dictator.  It is frustrating to see how Americans accepted having their rights impinged by George W. Bush because 9/11 was still fresh in everyone’s heads, and then they accepted more surveillance from Obama because he just looked so trustworthy and not dictator-y.

And now everybody is flipping out about what the government might do under Trump.  Where the fuck were all you people when it began because now it’s much harder to roll back the clock towards freedom when the software is out there in use.
