From the Guardian here:
The revised Republican plan would permit states to apply for waivers that allow them to opt out of a handful of crucial mandates in the Affordable Care Act. And under the proposal, states, if they meet certain conditions, could allow insurers to charge sicker enrollees more.
It all sounds reasonable on the screen but it’s not. As soon as a state can get waivers they can start lowering the quality or denying care to citizens of that state. It’s some insane form of state’s rights and it’s has been a problem since Obamacare was formulated.
You can not trust these states, especially former slave states to cover all their citizens, especially poor African Americans. It doesn’t appear to be a racist thing they’ve crafted into their new healthcare bill but it is.
